Our Heritage

Dedicated to geoscience excellence since 1968.

The Canadian Geological Foundation (CGF) was incorporated in 1968 as a charitable organization dedicated to the furtherance of geoscience in Canada. For over 50 years, it has played a key role in sustaining geoscience education, outreach, and awareness across the country.

Initially seeded with a founding grant from **J. Thayer Lindsley** and sustained by donations from benefactors, CGF supports charitable and educational initiatives in the education of students and all phases of study, research, and dissemination of knowledge relating to the science of geology.

Our Mission

To cultivate a deeper understanding and appreciation of Earth sciences in Canada by strategically funding impactful geoscience education, research, and outreach initiatives that reveal the wonders of our planet.

Our Vision

To support geoscience projects that respond to the educational needs of the geoscience community and the general public in Canada.

The Jérôme H. Remick III Fund

A transformative legacy that redefined the scale of our impact.

The Jérôme H. Remick III Endowment Trust Fund was established in 1994 through generous donations from Jerome "Jerry" H. Remick III, a renowned Canadian numismatist, geologist, and columnist.

Jerry's initial contributions and his subsequent major bequest in 2005—including his extensive coin and medal collection—more than doubled the Foundation's endowment. This generosity has allowed CGF to purposefully expand its support for geoscience education and public awareness.
